En inglés americano la preposición clave es "by": "I go by bus", "I travel by train". Para caminar se dice "I walk" o "I go on foot". Nota estas diferencias con el español.

"I go to work by car." El más común en EE.UU. "Drive a car" = manejar. La 'r' se pronuncia claramente al final en inglés americano.

People in American cities use different types of transportation. Mark drives his car to work every day — it takes 30 minutes. His neighbor Lisa takes the subway — it's faster in rush hour. Their colleague Tom rides his bicycle when the weather is nice. Sandra lives far away and takes the train from the suburbs. When it rains, she takes a taxi from the station to the office. Young people use the bus because it's cheap and reliable. On weekends, many people prefer to walk — the city is beautiful on foot. Once a year, they all travel by airplane to the company meeting in Chicago.

Nota: "Take the bus/train/subway/taxi" — se usa el verbo "take" para transporte público. "Drive a car" / "Ride a bicycle" — se usan verbos específicos para estos medios. "Walk" — ningún objeto directo: simplemente "I walk."

Diálogo real

Patrón clave: "How do you get to ___?" → "I take the ___ / I go by ___." Esta pregunta y respuesta son esenciales para pedir y dar direcciones en inglés americano.

Observa: "It's a 5-minute walk" — en inglés se usa sustantivo para describir duración del trayecto. "The subway goes all the way to..." = el metro llega hasta... Esta expresión es muy americana.

Usa tu transporte real de hoy. "I go to work by car. It takes 20 minutes." / "I go to school by bus. It takes 15 minutes." Hablar de tu rutina real hace que las frases se memoricen más rápido.
